Detecting, Tracking, and Interpretation of a Pointing Gesture by an Overhead View Camera

چکیده
In this work we describe a set of visual routines, which support a novel sensor free interface between a human and virtual objects. The visual routines detect, track and interpret a gesture of pointing in real time. This is solved in the context of a scenario, which enables a user to activate virtual objects displayed on a projective screen. By changing a direction of pointing with an extended towards the screen arm, the user controls the motion of virtual objects. The vision system consists of a single overhead view camera and exploits a priori knowledge of the human body appearance, interactive context and environment. The system operates in real time on a standard Pentium-PC platform.

Image Processing Methods for Interactive Robot Control
In this paper we describe a straight forward technique for tracking a human hand based on images acquired by an active stereo camera system. We demonstrate the implementation of this method on an anthropomorphic assistance robot as part of a multi-modal man-machine interaction system: detecting the hand-position, the robot can interprete a human pointing gesture as the specification of a target...
متن کاملPedestrians Tracking in a Camera Network
With the increase of the number of cameras installed across a video surveillance network, the ability of security staffs to attentively scan all the video feeds actually decreases. Therefore, the need for an intelligent system that operates as a tracking system is vital for security personnel to do their jobs well. Tracking people as they move through a camera network with non-overlapping field...

متن کاملMoving Vehicle Tracking Using Disjoint View Multicameras
Multicamera vehicle tracking is a necessary part of any video-based intelligent transportation system for extracting different traffic parameters such as link travel times and origin/destination counts. In many applications, it is needed to locate traffic cameras disjoint from each other to cover a wide area. This paper presents a method for tracking moving vehicles in such camera networks. The...
متن کاملPreprint Imagining In-Air Interaction for Hemiplegia Sufferer
In this paper, we described the imagination scenarios of a touch-less interaction technology for hemiplegia, which can support either hand or foot interaction with the smartphone or head mounted device (HMD). The computer vision interaction technology is implemented in our previous work, which provides a core support for gesture interaction by accurately detecting and tracking the hand or foot ...
